Our first film

Snow White Wasn’t a Real Girl. Her World Was.

In the Grimms’ first Snow White, printed in 1812, the woman who wants the girl dead is not her stepmother. She is her mother. The film follows the tale back through the Grimms’ changes and the “real Snow White” theories to Saxony’s silver mountains in the 1490s, where the tale’s looking-glass, laces, comb, apple and glass coffin can all be found.

How we work

We go back to the tales as the Brothers Grimm first printed them, and to the places, trades and things they grew from. Every claim is sourced, on screen and in the description, and when we get something wrong, we correct it.

The paintings in the game and the films are made with AI image models and reviewed for period accuracy, and the films’ voices and music are synthetic. We label them, so that none is taken for a period picture.
